EBJD bloat? (video)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well its bloat does seem to be better. It still has no appetite though.

I added an airpump/stone about 10 minutes ago and the EBJD seemed to get a lil more active. Its swam around a little bit but has since returned to the top corner. I'm sure going to feel like an idiot if oxygen levels are whats stressing it the most.

There does seem to be another white dot forming on its left side (near its head/gills, you can kind of see what im talking about in the first video.

The white dot on its top rear-fin is starting to worry me (especially if its spreading). What is it and what do I treat it with?

Took both of these shortly after adding the airstone.

He/She seems better to me ... could be more oxygen has helped .. also the stomach does appear to be going down... not sure about the spot..

Well its still at the top corner, but it doesn't look quite as sluggish as it was last night.

Not really sure what to do next. The directions on metronidazole say to dose every 48 hours until symptons disappear. It doesn't say anything about doing water changes inbetween doses. So I'm thinking I might want to skip doing any water changes today since I just added a full dose of metro yesterday. But with the bloat going down (i think), I'm not sure if I should continue dosing metronidazole or not.

I'm going to make a new thread in a little bit to try to identify the white spot(s). I know its not ich...

you should do a water change before redose atleast 25 % 50% is better i would treat every day for atleast 5 days

Ok I'll do a ~40% water change tonight and re-dose the metronidazole.

Its condition seems about the same. Spends most of the time in the top corner but occasionally swims around. Still doesn't have an appetite.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Don't think its going to make it....got home for lunch and its at the bottom of the tank resting on its side, breathing heavy. Took the rest of the day off work and doing an emergency water change right now. I've never seen a fish bounce back from laying on its side like that....

will keep yall posted.
