I have had mine now for about a month and he was expensive but i made sure he has his own tank to grown up in and then mabey move him later with some companions. Ive always herd that they are way less aggresive then regular JD's. To be honest with you out of my 3 JD's i have i dont think its possible for my EBJD to be more aggressive lol. And they are beautiful i just love the colour and he a little piggy. Already only 3 inches and he comes to the top everytime i walk in the room.
get the EBJD just watch out for bloat and ick when they are young. me and another guy i know both had the same problem. mine eats frozen bloodworms out of my hand and sinking krill pellets. he really is a neat fish. you wont regret it.
I have about 15 electric blues. I've found that they are pretty sensitive, especially when young. My tap water ph shot up dramatically recently, and I didn't notice. I lost five of them in about a week. But, other than that, they are pretty easy to take care of. I do 50% water changes weekly, and keep the temp around 82. Ph at 7.0, and moderately aggressive filtration (AC110 and magnum h.o.t. on 55).
If you take good care of them, and you get a good batch, I think you will not have any problems. But if you don't have either one or both of those of those things, you're in trouble.
Edit: The diet I provide is all frozen food (bloodworms, spirulina brine shrimp, and krill). Occasional algae tablet for the plecos which they like too.
