EBJD parasites, treat whole tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Refusing to eat & being reclusive could simply boil down to your fish being stressed from the recent move to his much smaller qt tank.
I agree, mine never eat in qt. I usually get black worms when the fish looks healthy, if he eats them and poop is normal I put them back in their normal tank and they'll eat pellets once back.

Okay, newest update. After I treated the quarantine tank the 3-dose maximum listed in the directions, he still wouldn't eat, so I moved him back to the main tank. He has been in there for probably 4 days and still isn't eating. He rarely leaves from under his log, but he still looks normal. I just saw him having spasms, though, so I guess that's not good....I don't want to stress him out by moving him back to quarantine, but is he a danger to the rest of my fish?

He's probably not a danger to the other fish unless you have other ebjd in there (Sorry, didn't take the time to go back through the earlier posts). From the description, however, it sounds like he's on his way out.

Yeah, 3 days later he still isn't eating. I've pretty much accepted that he's going to die... I don't have any other EBJD in there, I think I'll get a regular JD next time, although his blue color was awesome....

He's dead. :( I'd like another EBJD, but I think I'll stick to a JD for now. In the future, should they only be kept under UV sterilized conditions? I thought he was safe because he was already 4"

I've lost them at 5-6"; they're just delicate fish, and you have to be prepared for them to go down faster than 'normal' fish.
