Both EBJD's are nice. I really dig the one you lost, but the new guy can become just as pretty.

As far as the scratching up on stuff, my JD does it a couple of times a day as well. The water is fine and the fish healthy. I caught him doing it a lot when I first got him and looked it up online. I found a lot of owners say their cichlids rub up against things in their tank for no known reason. I think it's just normal behavior for a JD.

My Dempsey's do it, occasionally my Flowerhorn does and my Convicts have done it. Seems like it's banging to knock food loose or something. I know mine are healthy.
