It will be easier to sex when it grows larger. Its a beautiful fish and will hopefully grow up to be a beauty.
Is it eating well and is it swimming around confidently? Asking coz some of the EB strand just take to hiding and get stressed very easily.

Gotcha. The recessive thing is really confusing, but I did read up on that. So it must be pretty hard to sex them at this age since I've gotten 50/50 male/female Szar, what are your 2 cents?? or should I post a picture in another 6 months?

Believe me when I tell you, my husband called us all fish nerds - and I'm proud to be one! I LOVE watching them. I take my coffee in there, eat meals in there... I'll pull up a chair and sit for hours. LOL!! I'm picking up a firemouth and 5 rainbowfish on Monday. Can't wait!! It's like Christmas for me. I have 2 kids and a needy husband - I have found my happy place!! So, the jd is a crazy active swimmer. I actually feel a little guilty because I feel like my 90 gallon may be a little small - he's like a pacing tiger. He explores the whole tank constantly and changes color depending on where he goes. I've been feeding them 3x a day a mix of pellets and flakes which he will usually not touch. Maybe a small nibble, but he goes to town when I feed him brine shrimp or blood worms which I offer every 3 days...

Thank you! He is lovely I'd say he's grown time and a half? Maybe 3 1/2 inches now? I have no idea if he's electric blue since I have nothing but Google pictures to compare him to. Not even sure if he's a "he" so anyone feel free to shout out your opinion!

I would hazard a guess as it's male. Looks simular to my male I had in body shape and finage.

Males have a longer/slender body vs female being more ovalish. Also the trailers forming on the dorsal and anal fins. This leads me to my guess. Tho best way is always it's reaction to a known sex JD to make the case solid.
