Great. The guy was vomiting outside the apartment complex where he was staying. In Liberia he helped transport a woman with ebola to a hospital where she was turned away. He then took her back home and carried her into the house where she died. Four days later he arrived in the US.

How hard would it be to put cold water on your face and head just before they take your temperature at the airport? That Liberian American that lied about not being sick and got to Nigeria where he could have better treatment was desperate to get out of Liberia. What's to stop other desperate people from lying so that they can get to the US for treatment?
Wow! The news just keeps getting better and better

Marthalene Williams died 9/20/14 hours after Thomas Eric Duncan tried to help her. He arrived in the US on 9/20/14 and showed symptoms on 9/24/14. This article states that he had contact with her on 9/15, but is written as if he had contact on 9/20/14. Two others who had contact with her have died. He apparently became sick 4 - 9 days after contact with Williams.

Here's the solution (There are not my original thoughts, as people have already come up with solutions.)

Makes me not want to fly. My husband is flying back from Europe on 10/7. I hope he doesn't sit next to someone incubating Ebola. :(

Of course it's the start of the flu season...which symptom is, headache and high fever.

I read somewhere that people with hemoragic fevers tend to hiccup a lot; maybe that is the differentiation.

Hello; I do plan to continue my normal day to day infection prevention routine with perhaps more awareness and vigor. Frequent hand washing, not touching my face (mouth, eyes, nose and all) before hands are washed. Washing hands before eating out. Washing hands as soon as possible upon returning home. Not sharing food, food containers, drinks and such. Not reading magazines and/or touching as little as possible in hospitals and doctors patient rooms.

If the outbreak becomes wide spread there may be other things to consider. I probably will not dig a hole in the backyard but I may begin to avoid hand shakes, hugs and other physical contact. May avoid social gatherings like school functions, church, theaters and such. I do not get on airplanes already, so will not have to change that.

Good, they're doing proper contact tracing. I am truly dumbfounded by people on other sites who are so vocal about American exceptionalism now suddenly acting like our country is on par with war-ravaged countries with depleted healthcare systems.

All the more reason I prefer the fist pound over the more conventional handshake.
