Ok, my point here is not wonder wonder whether going to school is worth it, because Im in it so I am going. My question is to all you that are somewhat beyond colege with a career. Senior year in High School just started for me and I am already stressing out. I am taking AP English, AP History, AP Calculus, Anatomy and Physyology Honors, Spanish 5 honors, and World Religion. I have been in First Honors throughout High School 90+ in all classes, and I will do the best I can this year. I got a 1020 on the old SAT's and a 1610 on the new ones. I am not looking to go to an Ivy League college. I plan to go to college and go into Marine Biology and if I can do a double major of Marine Bio and Zoology.
But my question to you all is, how much relavance does all these grades have to your lives now? Did you take all honors courses and get all 90's but are still looking for something good to do in life? I am not really sure what I am asking myself, I just want to know either did trying your best in school work out for the better, or if you didnt try hard, do you regret it and wish you did better? Like what types of jobs are you into and did it really take what you learned to get it or did you just get a summer job once and kept moving up the ladder? I can see several jobs around in my town of which I could prbably secure without even going to college. I guess I am asking after all, is all the work really worth it?

The work is worth it as long as you understand you'll have to work a bit more when you graduate to get the higher pay to make it all worth it. Sounds like you're a smart kid and you should definately drill through and get what you want....not just be secure.

I thought the highest possible on the SAT's was 1600??

Yes, its all worth it.

Everything you are learning now will not all be used (thats impossible) but it will train your brain and discipline yourself (hope im not lecturing ya, im only 29). I was also a marine bio major, but now I have a job that I love and is never the same, I rarely wake up in the morning thinking I dont want to go to work (like so many in this world). I also know that at the end of the day the world is a better place because of me (unless its the weekend when I relax, drink, and party) :) . What am I?

A teacher, I may not make much but hey I make a difference! I hope I dont sound too full of myself :D

PM me is ya wanna chat more :D

I did not graduate highschool, instead I got a GED and entered the army a few days after 17, I have picked up a few credits here and there but I regret that early choice in many ways. If I were you I would stick with it.
My little brother is 38 and still going to school part time, he is working on his 2nd doctorate. He makes more in a year than I do in a decade but more importantly he loves what he does which is develope image recocnition programs and fuzzy logic systems, part of his work went into the mars rover and his current work is on autonomous weapons systems.
Look around for a school that offers what you want and enjoy the chance to learn what you love, believe it or not the University of Guam rates very highly for it's bioscience-marine biology program and is relatively inexpensive when compared to most decent schools in the US, and you get to live on Guam for a few years, check it out online.

Thanks so for the input brudders. I just see people around me cruise through class and get nothing but 60's 70's, and if you try and thats what you achieve, I respect that, but I never really know if the people that cruise by regret that they did.

Well, I am a genius so I got bonus points, ha no. They added a new section to the SAT's, a writing section. So there are 3; 800 point sections. So the highest you can get is a 2400. And yeah I said writing section, so we got to write an essay, not fun my friends, not fun. Also in that section is we get sentaces and we have to decide if there is a grammar problem in 1 out of 5 spots of the sentace. Another big change is they got rid of anologies, and added Algebra 2 to the math.

Heres some more on the change

Depending on what type of marine bio you want to get into you should also check out humbolt state or santa cruz state (both in cali). or even hawaii (thou they are having finance troubles i hear)

btw I used to live on guam, VERY nice fish wise but HELLA small island.

I love essays, even sold a few.

i hate school, never took ap classes, cant spend alot of time on homework, othwise my walls would be full of holes, and im not good at studying becasue i cant hold still long enough, and i dont even have A.D.D.

nothing was worth it becasue im in a community college and not at a university.

school is definatly worth it i graduated from high school and went to college majoring in electrical/computer engineering but i dropped out of college after a year and now i regret that i would almost be done with college. only advice i have is get partying out of your system before you start school.
