hey someone i need help my eheim won't pump. like the hose fills up but the water doesn't pump out, and the indicator on the outlet is only staying on the bottom. I REALLY NEED HELP BECAUSE THE WARRANTY FROM DRFOSTERS EXPIRED AND I DON"T KNOW WHERE AN EHEIM REPAIR SHOP IS IN THE U.S.

Howdy,

does it make noise? Did you open all valves? Did you close the main lock? Did you prime it? Did both hoses fill?

well i took off the hoses and i turned it on expecting water to shoot out of the filter but nothing came out, but the impeller is spinning at full power. I've tried pressing the primer button nada, and i let the filters valves open but nada.

Looks like it's been a few days - how is your tank without filter?

Have you tried complete disassembly? You should.
Did you reassemble the impeller system correctly?
How do you know the impeller is spinning full power? Did you run it dry and open? You shouldn't.

Put it all back together. All hoses connected. All valves open. Main lock lever closed. Your canister should be empty. Now push the prime button repeatedly and make sure both hoses fill. Air will be pushed out of the pressure side. Confirm by holding the outlet under water, it'll bubble. You will see the water level rising in the canister (use flashlight if necessary). Once the canister is full of water you can plug it in.

Tell us what happend, or what didn't happen at what step along the way.

Good luck,
HarleyK

k i took out all the media and turned on the filter and the impeller is fine. Nothing is pumping out even when the water is in the canister.

If necessary could someone please tell me the location of an eheim repair shop located inthe u.s., because the manufacturer guarantees the filter for 3yrs and i've only had it for 3months.

I would say make sure your media is in correctly. The polishing pad placement is unclear in the instructions, remove it and see if that is your problem. A friend has this filter and put in the pad incorrectly it cut off most if not all of the flow and the filter would not prime.

eheims are that bad i was about to get one. should i still get one

Eheims are the best-made filters on the market. There's no reason you should not consider getting one, based on one guy's issues. I've got 2 Eheim Pro IIs that have been running for almost 15 years. I've got another newer Pro II that's been running for 3...never a single issue with any of them.

Sorry to say this but i am thinking it is user error. Eheim filters are by far the best made filter on the market they are the ferrari of filters

Put some freaking water in the canister! : )

Seriously, if no water came out when you opened it up, you don't have a full canister. Either you started with it dry, the valves are shut, or intake tubes are blocked. If, as you say, the impeller is spinning IT HAS TO BE ONE OF THE ISSUES I NOTED. The canister is fed via gravity (for the most part), so check one the issues I noted.
