I agree, I love mine.

I was wondering, is there a way to semi-clean the filter without opening the lid by doing a "back wash"? i.e. Unplug it, close the intake disconnect valves, disconnect them, then open back the one closest to the filter and let the water run into a bucket? It seems like it would do a good job of getting rid of the crud on the lowest level.
 
ive got one on a 125 with its buddies the FX5 and cascade 700:drool: GREAT filter. solid as a rock. plus....its a classic eheim:naughty: you'll love it weather it be simplicity or functionality.

Suppose that would work if the outake was completely underwater..?
