ok i have no source of carbon in my 2250, all i have aare some type of cermic rings and a blue pad for the top of the eheim ( think its a polishing pad or somthing ) so can i get some HOB filters and set it on top of the polishing pad? i want to get some source of carbon going in my tank so help with ammonia ( even though im at 0 right now ) any ideas?

Why on earth do you need to prepare for ammonia when you have a canister that could filter a small ocean?
2250's are huge and I can tell you that I ran more stock on a fluval 405 in a slightly smaller tank with only one basket of bio in and I never had so much as a blip in my tests. You don't need carbon or to worry about bio, your tank is only 75g and you have a 2250.
You only need to add some fine floss to the top to polish the water or get a 100 micron filter pad and cut it to size. Go to walmart and go find the polyester matting on the huge rolls and buy some of that. I have heard other americans say it is cheap, you can wash it if you need to and it can be cut to size.
You are worrying about nothing with regards to ammonia unless you wash your bio and sponges in tap water weekly.

sry cichlid, i posted before i got to see what you wrote. so i should be fine then? i do have a bag of poly pure padding i use for my internal filters when i ran them. would that help adding that?
