I am really wanting to get a 2260 to replace my FX5 which has just died this afternoon. after less than a years use. My problem is the internal space inside my cabinet.
The 2260 is 57cm tall, and I have 64cm inside.

Now this all sounds fine. However, the output hose on the 2260 is vertical at the top of the unit and therefore you would need enough space not to have a tortuous bend in the hose, which would restrict flow as well as put continued stress on the output pipe from the pump.

DO you reckon I have enough rom there ? Or are there easy ways of having a "hard plumbed" right angle bend coming out of the top of the unit ?

Why not just rotate the pump?

On a side note, if your FX5 is still under the 3 year warrenty, contact Hagen and ask for a replacement unit.

Really ? It's as simple as that ?

I've read the Eheim manual, which is next to useless, and it doesn't mention that at all. In fact the exploded diagram in it also doesn't give any clues that this might be possible. Is anyone sure that the latest models still do this ?

A bit of further searching and I can see how the pump can be mounted either way. I can't believe they would change such a simple bit of design like that on later models. Eheim are not a company to change something that works ! ANyway THanks guys. That sorts it out for me !

THe FX5 is only 11 months old from new. I'll get it repaired under warranty and then sell it. I don't trust it anymore. I've always been an "Eheim man" in the past. THis Fluval was a bit of an experiment. I'll stick to Eheim in the future. Lesson learnt.

I have a 2260 and it is the most powerful canister I have owned. Worth every penny . Also got 2 fx5 s running. They R brilliant
, much better at mechanical than bio filtration.

What height is the 2260 with the pump turned sideways? Im really really tight for space!!!

lol thats a whole lot of insulation..... awesome filter though have a 2262 and setting up a 2260 with pump sideways for flow on a custom pvc spray bar.....

My 2250 was setup under a low tank and the output has some right degree turns, thought about turning the pump sideways but the rails that screw it to the base do not line up when i do this. Hard to tell from your picture but were u able to screw it down on both side? or just one?

Why not just rotate the pump?
