I tried the Matala media and didn't care for it in the Eheim, it became to soft and floppy over a year's time, probably due to the flow. It is popular in pond filter setups though.

I also don't particularly care for the Ehfi fix either, it didn't appear to trap much gunk for me. I switched to Poret foam in 10PPI and 20PPI in my 3 big Eheims.
