Eheim for a 300g

I bought my FX5 for 250 off of ebay and love it!! It just keeps it so much more simple. I've had it for two years now and havn't had any problems.

doesnt the fx5 have relatively low filter capacity compared to Eheim? is it just me or is that a whole lot of wasted space?

i think your right... the fx5 just has more media baskets, but i believe they dont reall hold that much stuff compared to the deep eheim baskets

Well, I know my 2260 came with one large media bag that I put only by Ehfisubstrat Pro in. I would guess the 2262 comes with the same bag.

As far as filter floss, I bought the BigAl's filter floss (20 sq ft) and just cut them into circular pads to fit. You can also go with Walmart or fabric store polyester pads as long as there's no additives. Look on the Media sticky link @ top of this forum for suggestions on brand name. Or you can go with a 20 PPI foam and cut to fit. That way all you need to do is cut to fit. I use the Poret 20PPI foam pad.

Howdy, the 2262 comes with one bag. If you want to separate your media, then you need to get more. I used filter floss on top.

media capacity 2262: 4.8 gal
media capacity FX5: 1.5 gal
--> you'd have to get 3 FX5 to have the biopower of one 2262

I am new to this stuff and I am ordering blind.
I have always had HOB filters. Never had a canister before.

I am sure you can find it at any online store. Floss is just filter floss. You can go fancy and get Eheim
