Does anyone have any experience with these filters? I just smoked an aquaclear and I'm pissed about it, so I'm looking to try travel another avenue (No biowheel please)

Thanks!

Sorry, no help on the Liberty. How did you smoke an AC ??
Oh !... I'll trade a nice AC70 for a similar nice Uaru !!! :D :D

to be quite honest, it smoked itself. I cleaned it about a month ago (motor off, impeller out) and it quit working sometime in the last 2 days. It was so hot the motor was fused together.

This is the first time I've had it happen, and it's my newest aquaclear. Are they cheapening them up?

I hope not   , just got 2 110's from the local Psmart at the online price before they went up. Maybe I should keep the 70's for back up and just buy the Uaru !! :D :D

They still have that nice big uaru:) (they sold one, the one left has a bit of a bum eye) I'll buy him and hold him for you if you want. He's a really nice looking fish other than his eye (which you have to really pay attention to to tell)
Just shoot me a message

Will do. Keep us updated on that Liberty if you choose to give one a try.

I have the largest liberty HOB they make, the 50 gallon one, on my 20 gallon. Its decent. I think for the price its a pretty good filter, and i like the replacable carbon catridges it uses, I just got the filter tho so i cannot say anything about long term.

Don't do it! They are not very good filters. The media capacity is terrible, the bypass is amazingly high, and they burn up pretty easily. I've had one for around 2 years. Not one I'd spend $10 on.

i got my OceanFree mini HOB for my 10gal
its working great the water is clear all the time
but the filter media must be changed/washed every 1 or 2 days

I'm looking for something good for a couple of 25 gallon tanks. I'm about ready to just go with sponge filters.
