I CAN'T WAIT!!! The other filter has **** itself! All thats running in it is some ****ty internals. I'm not about to let my fish sit for a month or what ever with next to no filteration!

Well I am not really excited just tyring to do something right here, getting the best filter I can afford. Having only one filter will have to do for me right now.

If you get only of either filters for the time being, you'll be fine if you don't add a lot of fish in and also do 30% water changes every week. After all, that is what I had to with my 300g and FX5 before I was able to add on my wet/dry filter.

I won't be adding new fish, rather getting rid of some.

you'll be fine then. Get one of the two filters for the time being and do weekly 30% water changes.;)

Okay.

DS, a stone got caught in the impeller and burnt out the motor :irked:

2 months ago i got sand stuck in the impeller of my Eheim, i notice the reduced flow almost immediately and was able to save it.

2 things prevented this problem from ever happening again

1. raise the intake
2. i switched from a fine marine sand to 3M color quartz s Grade sand, IMO the best sand out there!

I'll be going with sand later down the track. And the intake will be about 20cm off the sand.

I've just put an add on my local buy sell forums for a used filter. I've asked for a second hand 2080, 2280, 2250, 2180 or Fx5. Hopefully i'll have something soon while my makeshift filters still kicking.

yep, after you put 2g of H2O in the canister, slap the hoses back on top and plug in the power, it forces water in/out through the hoses which forces the air out.

with eheim 2080, you dont have to manually put 2g of H20 into the can ,, you just pushthe button a few times so no buckets of water required ,,

eheim wins this one ,:)
