Elasmobranch ID game

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok maybe a pristiophorus schroederi. I can't seem to find any pics of it online so I'm just going to throw it out there as a possibility. Also a question if I may ask, since this is an elasmobranch not just shark ID is this a sawfish or sawshark?
So in that case is it a pristis microdon?

Good Question - since many people might consider Sawfish & Sawsharks to be the same. The fact is that aren't. Sawfish actually belong to the Superorder - Known as Rajomorphii (Rays). While Sawsharks are part of the Superorder - Squalomorphii - which also includes Cow sharks & Dogfishes.

BTW - once you understand the physical differences between the Sawshark & sawfish - it's clear - which type the elasmobranch in the photo belongs to.

Hint - Emi's got the right form. ;)

LOL I admire your determination Serafino!! But nope, not those either....

And yes, sawfish is correct, now just identify which species of sawfish it is.

And Ken, you seem confident - take a stab, what is it?? LOL

Ehh I don't think its a dwarf but I could be wrong.
One more stab and someone has to get it because I believe thats all of the species pristis sijsron
Well I'm just giving my best guess as to look alikes. I wish I knew more about elasmo anatomy and morphology. I get to take a college zoology course next semester so I might learn a bit there. Anyone want to teach me the ways? lol.
