Matt, do you recall what species of Swell shark you were working with or which aquarium they are located?

At UWA - But I'll have to get back to you on species. Or maybe Em remembers ( I got them from Mont Bay Aq). We got pajama cats, dark shy sharks, rusty cats and the swell sharks all at once for a cold water tank that already had Port Jacksons and a few other horn sharks.

The black and white pic makes it a little trickier. It has got to be a Horn Shark and Im leaning towards the Mexican Horn over the Crested PJ but Ive even seen Cali Horns with out many destinguishable markings like spots...

Heterodontus Mexicanus it is.

It looks like a Black & White photo, but actually it's in color(notice the brown colored algae in the lower right hand corner).

And yes - it the Mexican Horn. So Chris - your up.

Is it a new species of epaulette shark.?
I know they discribed 2 new species.

No, it is a well know species that has bin described for as long as I can recall.

Well - I know it's one of the species of Epaulettes that has been known for at least 40 yrs.
