64F is way too cold for me. I have a friend who keeps their house cold to me at least. We just run fans and maybe the AC on hot days but mostly we leave it whatever the outside temps in. We live in Ohio though, so it's never super hot out. 80F isn't bad out at all.bubbles123;4261046; said:Without a heater, the tank temperature would be the same as the room temp. In the summer, we keep our house 18'C (64'F). In the winter, we keep our house 20-21'C (68-70'F). The only tank I have that doesn't need a heater is my 30g goldfish tank.
My fish have all been fine. Then again mine would stay 78-82 mostly. To each his own.12 Volt Man;4261056; said:because it eliminates the temperature fluctuations and keeps it constant. which is a good thing.
obviously, in the summer they won't run very much to keep the tank at your normal temp., but they at least regulate it.

Never drops below 76? I think 76 is a hot day. We do get the odd day here that is in the upper 80's (30'C+) but they're rare. I know a person that lives near me that recently retired. He loaded his snowblower into his truck and headed south. He said "the first time I get asked 'what is that?' That is where I stop." When it gets above 76, I barely go outside. I'd much rather be outside when it's -50'C.
True.
