Electric blue cichlid compatability?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I house a jack dempsey with other peacocks including a electric blue and have no problems. There is also 1 hap and 1 mbuna in the tank. My jack dempsey doesn't like my black convict either but she will tolerate him in the tank, just not near her, unless its feeding time. My tank size is a 125g though. My jack dempsey doesn't bother any of the tankmates.

...I did have a electric blue I got rid of that was meaner than my jack dempsey though...so it all depends on the individual fish, it could work out, it could not...good luck!

So i got my fish in the tank tonight, i got another convict from my friend and its the same situation, hes bullying the convict again. I will get the EB in a few weeks once the tank cycles out better. heres the new tank though.

hes about a inch or so, dempsey harasses him here and there, not like the last one which i think he killed due to the size of the tank. once this tank cycles out ill get the EB.

Okay, If the Dempsey starts trying to kill the convict I would haul ass to Petsmart grab that EB and put him in because then the Dempsey will be like oh shoot what do I do, really big fish. lol

Nice tank, but i would make more places for the convict to hid. If the dempsey keeps seeing him he will want to attack him. So i would build some rock hide outs with rocks laying around your yard or creek.

In the process right now actually. they seem to be doing ok today. I think im still going to buy the EB in a week or 2
