Electric blue jack Dempsey advice

OMG that is a beaut! You should be OK with the Severums, Jewels will cause you major problems if they mate in the tank. Convicts are generally too aggressive with an EBJD. I have yet to have any challenges with my EBJD's and Plecos together in either tank, but I have heard SOO many times of others that have had challenges that I won't give that combor a double thumbs up even though I have yet to experience problems.

Best of luck with your new super handsome baby!

everyone has there own opinions with this fish. they have there own personalities , some genetical stronger than others.

i've seen weakings and bad ass fish ..tough as nails
buy a uv sterlizer and buy from a reputable source.

it is a hit or miss with most of them but half the ones i have seen or talked bout are easy to care for unlike the ppl saying bad things like they will usually die..but if you did get a good genetic EBJD your fine

I once bought one because it looked so nice, but it died for no apparent reason. There si a thread somewhere here that explains how they are ridiculously inbred causing a praticaly non existing immune system.

I would never put him in that tank. You might try to put him alone in a tank and see what happen.

same here. mine in with a female chocolate cichlid and he the boss.

I am in love with this fish! I to am starting up a grow out tank for a EBJD. I am having a bit of trouble understanding the difference between "Electric Blue" JD, "Powder Blue" JD, and the "Blue Gene" JD.

what I am finding is that all the fish stores in my area are telling me that they can sell me a the former two in the list for 10-20 $ but the EBJD is 60-100$. I plan on these fish as my Showcase fish but I want to make sure I am getting the right homies.

Help???

electric blue and powder are same thing just different variations of blue some are darker and some lighter depends on breeding and variation. The blue gene looks like a regular Jack except carries the recessive gene that creates the ebjd blue if bred with a non related blue gene.
