The first one I bought about 2.5 years ago he was around 3" and $60 I put him in with some oscars just a bit smaller than him he lasted the night after that i bought 2 more at about an inch long and $20 a piece they were doing fine until a mysterious disease hit later learned it was a flesh eating bacteria I had to break the tank down completely still haven't set it back up last I bought 4 more around an inch and again $20 which one way or another all met there end but the one

wow beautiful tank! iv been doing my research and i cant wait till i get them! currently have a lake malawi cichlid tank... currently spawning. I was wondering if there would be any kind of live plants that would be sutible for putting in the tank with them... going to set them up in a 55g.

I have one of these guys and love him his name is mr sparkles. He was about 1.5-2" when I got him now he is 3". I was lucky never had any real problems just a little ichwhen I got him. I grew him out in a 20 gal by himself to make sure he eat and was healthy and happy. I did 3 WC a week fed twice a day. He would only eat the shrimp at first.

When he got to 3" I moved him in to my 55 gal To grow out with a 2" severum and 3" blue acara. He will push the severum around and the acara and him fought once nothig big a lip lock once and that was it. They are on good terms now. I feed him Spirulina flakes, shrimp, and cichlid pellets. He eats it all. Mine is not shy he loves to show off.

I will be getting a 100-125 gal this summer for my fish that are in the 55 gal.

Here he is when I first got him
