Good luck bro thats gonna be an amzing fish! Im asuming that they can shock stronger than an E cat?

just a whole lot more/ my wife was reading up on what she agreed to let me have and she called me, " you know that eel can kill a horse!?" ( i cleaned up the language alot!)

i dont think so haiko... if your electrical devices were wired openly so that the eels shock could effect their circuit then the electric flow of the device could also effect the fish and the water...
but that prolly wudnt be the case since now houses have circuit breakers so if your device would be emiitting a charge into the water the electrical supply would be cut off by the surge and none of it would work anymore...

short answer... no :P

Would a titanium grounding probe be in any way beneficial as an added safety precaution?? I don't know if it would make any difference, just thought I'd throw that idea out there.

No, I don't believe it would make keeping an electric eel any "safer". As I mentioned earlier, it really isn't the shock that will hurt you (although a large one could easily bring you to your knees) but your recoil from it that will, at least with adults. It ain't the wattage, it's the amps ;)

i just plug everything into a power strip with a circuit breaker for good measure

the e-eel is not that special folks....i had mine for 7 months now...it's a great fish...overall peaceful and only come out to feed and it will eat anything...not the most appealing fish but definitely one of the coolest...and most interesting =)

mine is in a community tank with aros...cats...plecos...and various other small.med fish and nothing ever happens besides the one-in-awhile shock that causes all the fish to jump ahahaha...

Sounds like a fun fish. Post pictures when you get it.
