Electric Pink Jack Dempsey???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
best photo ive seen of them

It certainly does look more pink in these photos. You have to ask yourself where the pink color comes from (what form of JD has this color to contribute)? In my opinion it is a) a platinum juiced up with red color enhancers, b) color enhanced photo, or c) there are some genes from other fish mixed in to get the pink color. I don't see that they are claming it to be pure JD, but it does have the overall body shape of a JD.

It would be great if all these fish turn out looking like this in a tank with normal lighting being fed a standard food, but I am still a skeptic that these are just a line of JD's that has been selectively bred to produce the fish in the picture.

If they have done it, then congrats to them as this is a pretty sweet looking fish.

A friend contacted the breeder to ask more questions. The breeder has said that he is getting both electric blue gold and electric blue pink in the same batches of fry and that he can see a noticeable difference between the pink and gold when growing in an outdoor pond. He is also getting another color form he calls platinum (not to be confused with what others have refered to as platinum [Electric Blue Gold]) - this fish looks more of a solid powder blue with a black spot on it's side. All of these fish are said to originate from crosses of male Electric Blue JD and female Gold JD with a few generations of crosses with selected fish from this first cross. It is still not clear what is going on here with the genetics. It would be great to see pictures of all these forms (side-by-side) to see how they compare and understand the difference in appearance. I am now very confused where I thought we understood the genetics on these fish. Back to the drawing board...

Awwww Great!!!! More studying just when I thought I understood the graph.... So the question is how are we to understand this? I guess the questions should be directed at the breeders of the Platinums(blue/golds).. To find out if they have came out with similar findings when breeding... So whoever can contact Liquid Lizard,Hollywood and if I'm not mistaken bb66cuda and ask them... That would be a start...

Anyone considering these for breeding may want to inquire about fertility...

I am trading my full grown bonsai male for a 2" electric pink jack dempsey. I'm hoping it's a female I would like to try to breed it with my power body King Kam fa. The electric pink Jack Dempsey is supposed to be a hybrid not a morphe
