Electrical lighting question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I thought someone came out with some Bluetooth programmable light bulbs that you could time right from an application on your phone, and also change colors and intensity.

I haven't seen these at the store yet, or maybe I just haven't been looking ;)

Lotta wifi ones like that around for home lighting. I'm not really a huge fan of how most are operated by a cloud hosted server though, usually in China. I have a few on non critical stuff like some night lights, dehumidifier, some speakers, my tank lighting and heaters. If your internet goes out, you can't turn on your lights or anything any more.

I've had the same set of lights for a decade that I've controlled like this

I bought a wall plug with a radio remote control from home deopt that i have my lights plugged into.

I've bought a few of these a few years back, and burned most of them out. They wouldn't handle a 42" ceiling fan with four 60 watt lightbulbs. That's only like 6 amps. The one that still works controls a single lamp.

I had one on my tracklights, and I built a custom housing for the circuitry. Painted it to match, with a gold pullchain for backup. Burned out within a year. I was only running six 50 watt bulbs, so nearly 3 amps. Good thing I added the pullchain.

The consumer electronics industry has been over rating their goods since the 70's, and now the power side is doing so.

Not a good way.

I hear you, its worked perfectly for me for years but i have only been plugging in a few spot lights or t8 tubes at a time.
