Electricity Bill...Help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They charge a different rate for day time use and night time use.

That's not entirely true. That's a special plan that you elect to be placed into. If you're not in that plan, you'll get charged the same per kwh whether it's day or night. Most companies though, will charge you more per kwh when you exceed a certain amount of usage each month.

Thats what happend to me I was charged more cuz they have certain tiers and I reached the highest tier for the first time in my whole life which has never happend and they can't seem to give me an explanation on why bill doubled..

Do you have a heat pump for central AC system?
Dont know? Does your thermostat have a setting for emergency or AUX heat?

If yes to either, have you been using the heat at all that month?

Sorry dorn but it seems correct... They might've raised prices because this month my bill came out to be $180 for some reason and all I have is a 180 gal in a 2 bedroom apt... My 180 gal has a 130w pump so if you calculate you are running much more than I am. Also keep in mind that the more you use the more they charge per kwh :( The benefits of living in socal...

Sounds like your in the same boat as probassfisher010 is....Must have a leak somewhere, no way your bill should be that much

Lol oops, I thought I read water bill...:duh:

Anyways, thats crazy...somethings wrong, no way your electricity bill should be almost $1,000

Hopefully its just a leak and I can find it cuz if I don't my fiance will keep blaming the fish tanks lol...

wow that is insane. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment that is really old and not at all up to date with electronics and mine barely gets over 100 when I have computers on constantly, my tank heater/filter, 2 people living here, work during the day so lots of lights on at night, 2 AC running in the summer, etc. You are paying almost twice my rent in electric alone.

yeah, again, do you have a heat pump? A malfunctioning heat pump can easily triple an electric bill.
