but yet you have that stupid avitar :screwy:
like i said in the other thread on this,
researchers get to do there thing
the meat is fed to people
and the little ones are tagged
a little fun/food while doing research isnt that big of a deal
so cry for something that really needs it ;)

I don't see what my avatar has to do with.

Anyways, I do aquatic research, and trust me when I say that science doesn't need anymore dead threshers and makos. All data that can be collected from makos can be just as easily collected from tuna and sword/sailfish. Those dead fish go towards collections. Don't start deluding yourself that they goes for real research. The most valuable research being done with sharks is that which involves them being alive. I don't see how 2 days of drinking beer and "having fun" justifies pointlessly killing animals that are both dwindling in numbers, and have taken over a decade to reach that size. Whoever said that there is an abundance of Makos has no idea what he is talking about. ;)

a few dead sharks makes you cry but an endangered manatee running into glass is funny to you :screwy:

hmm,so a tuna will tell you what a shark ate and where the shark came from.
wow,the tuna and shark must be friends. :screwy:

What kind of "aquatic research" do you do and who do you work for? Just curious?

undergraduate research at the university of miami marine science department. Help track sea turtles, sharks, and occasional mammals.

for anyone who knows anything about shark research, the only data being gathered on makos for the past couple years of importance are the flow concentrated flow of blood to certain key organs (eyes, brain, etc) and underwater speeds/streamlining. Had you known that, you would also have known that it is much easier and efficient to use swordfish/tuna in this research, because of the ease and cost effectiveness in obtaining specimens. These are a few of the animals who have such a biological function.

Also, manatee, unlike sharks, are making comebacks thanks to public awareness, and the fact that it doesn't look good hanging a manatee with its throat slit from a hook. I don't see any dead manatees in my avatar.

its the point, you like sharks enough to cry but a caged manatee that is more endangered then a shark is funny to you.
like i said
the meat gets eaten
they do research "you were not there so you know nothing of what was done"
and the baby sharks were tagged
sounds like a good 2 days to me "not an everyday thing like your acting "
and now,ive said what i wanted and im done with this thread ;)

and the fact that it doesn't look good hanging a manatee with its throat slit from a hook.
thats never done, but it is to cows,do you cry at night for them too?
now go eat that burger without any cares.
:grinno:

At least they aren't catching these puny things. I have two queations: where is Martha's Vinyard, and isn't she pissed with everyone fishing in her back yard? (don't answer that).

Sharks have a natural mechanism for over fishing...they taste nasty (even after soaking and treating).

Btw, the Japanese do all of thier research using only the sharks fins. :grinno: :grinno: :grinno:

I don't understand why several people think these sharks are doing just fine. Thresher numbers are way way down, along with lots of the other large pelagic sharks.

It's also nothing like culling deer. At least where I'm from, white tail are overpopulated and a huge pest, quite the opposite of sharks....

I don't understand why such a big point was made on the fact I said "I cry". If I need to explain what a hyperbole is to you fine. But if this has the become the basis of your argument now, I think this thread should just close.
