Emergency: help needed with swelling on disk

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven’t seen anything like that either. My guess would’ve been heater burn as well until you said it was covered. Getting any better?
It did seem to get a bit bigger from when I first noticed it but it doesn't seem as swollen. It's almost seemed like it's calmed down on the inside of the wound and the edges are only slightly raised.

Long way of saying yes, it looks a bit better.

He ate a whole silverside tonight (they're about as wide as his mouth) and he's been expressing interest in new foods. Hasn't quite taken to them yet. Seems to be unbothered by the wound. Still glass surfs and plays in the bubbles. I did another big water change tonight and my parameters look good.

I'll check it out again in the morning and toss another pic of the *hopefully* healing process.

Maybe your tank isn't fully cycled if it still has ammonia readings. Plus you're changing your water way too much. 75% on a weds then another 25 on Friday and Sunday seems excessive.

I've cut down a bit on water changes. I had wondered that as well though. Thinking the biofiltration had needed to do a bit of catching up. Anyway, things are looking better now.

Sorry I didn't post pics yesterday. I was I'm a bit of a rush. The spot is looking considerably better. It's returned to the normal color of his disk in the center of the blotch now and swelling has gone down considerably. It seems to be on a definite upswing (knock on wood).

Here are a few pics.
