Help!

Okay here's the gist, my boyfriend made a pvc cave made of 3 pvcs glued together with loctite stik'n seal no mess non-toxic adhesive. The glue came apart overnight and made the water really cloudy. We thought it was time for a filter change so went out and got ammocarb for our xp2. That didn't fix it, which was when we discovered the source of the cloudiness: the pvc creation was deteriorating.

Currently: 55 gallon tank was drained

Fish are in a 10 gallon tank

Gravel has been washed.

I have some reptomin water conditioner that "instantly removes Chlorine and Chloramines, Removes Ammonia and helps prevent its accumulation, Reduces pH".

It was an emergency situation due to the color of the water. (Milky white)

What can I do? I was so scared that the glue breakdown was going to kill them but they aren't showing any distress. To keep it safe we refilled the temporary holding tank with outflow water from the XP2 inside the normal tank.

I don't want to go through something drastic from changing the water so fast. Any suggestions before I reintroduce them to their tank?

The fish are pretty sturdy, danios, tetras, plecos, inverts, platys, and a catfish. The turtles that live in the tank are in a plastic bin making a fuss but they're fine being dry docked.:WHOA:

Thanks for helping me.

Do you mean the PVC pipes are deterioating or the glue? Next time if you want to glue pvc pipe together, I don't remember what it's called, but it bonds plastic together. People use the glue on their pvc pipes for filters and such. Hope this helps, The Doctor

The glue that was holding the pipes was deteriorating. The deteriorating reduced the visibility in the water down to near zero.

its called pvc cement but it wouldnt work in this aplication. super glue works, ive used it hundreds of times along with many reefers.

I'm not concerned about the pvc right now, that's sitting out on the deck. But thanks for the tips on the glue for next time. Any thoughts on how I can prevent fish death from a rapid water change?

let the water settle. run the filter, then do water changes 2-3 times(%40) a week untill the cloudyness is gone. then test your water and if all is good put everythin back in. this what i do ush when this happens in my ponds when i get algea blooms.

That's the tank they're in, forgot to list a couple of them in my frantic post... some overgrown feeder comets and gourami fish are in there too.
