The xp2 is back in the tank after being cleaned.

I'm assuming you cleaned the bio as well. If you did youll need to go through the tank cycle again. Put the danios in the tank now. You're in Fl so most petstores are gonna be closed. First thing tomorrow, get some stability(petsmart etc, ) and dose accordingly. The danios are pretty tough, so the ammonia spike and nitrite spike won't harm them much in such a big tank. Follow the directions on the bottle and slowly reintroduce your fish over the new few days to a week. Figure out something for your turtles for a few days.

You're gonna need to change about half the water a day in the 10 if you don't have a filter and more would be better with those comets in there. Use a good water conditioner to get the ammonia from building up in the 10.

I'm a few minutes from a walmart, would they have anything I can use in a pinch for the fish? The turtles can handle a complete water change without an issue.

We do have other pvc pipes from another tank that we can use to help with new tank syndrome, we also have some bamboo, a skull ornament, bubble wands, and a turtle hut (plastic log) that could have some bacteria from the old tank water on it. Also, the ramp that about 12x7" long that leads the turtles into their above tank basking area has some bacteria on it.

Thinking about taking 2 gallons out of the refilled 55 and adding it to the milky white water that they're in. Then, taking 2 gallons out of another ten gallon established tank and adding it to the 55. Good idea or no?

You can throw any of that in and it will help. Not sure if walmart will have anything useful, but the danios will start your cycle tonite and be fine till you can continue tomorrow.

Adding the danios now, thank you for your help.

I'd just add fresh( conditioned) tap to the 10. Danios in the 55 will be good for tonite, in addition to all the decor you spoke of. Tomorrow, put the stability in and the comets. Test the water as you go and add the fish back in nice and slow. Keep putting fresh in the 10 gallon holding tank each day and you should be good. Put the tetras, gourami and catfish in towards the end since thru are the most nitrite and ammonia sensitive.

No problem. Once you get the stability in things will speed up, but the ammonia the danios will produce will get you off and going. What are you using for bio in the xp2? If you have any gravel that hasnt been cleaned , put it in one of your filter baskets with whatever bio you're using.

I'm using 4 of those nylon bags from petsmart full of ammocarb.

My bf is heading to walmart to see if he can't find some fish to throw in the 55 gal w/some of that water you get in the bag whene you buy a fish. I think they have some feeders.

When you get the stability get either biochem stars, Biomax, substrat pro, matrix or anything like. The ammobags keep ammonia down but they do little for biofiltration. Use the sponges that came with the xp2 in basket one and fill basket two with whatever biomedia you can get your hands on. The ammobags can go directly in the tank to help relieve the ammonia spike , but you need some ammonia in the water to start your cycle so constantly removing it will slow down your cycle. Avoid adding any feeders, because you only need a few fish to kick things off and I think you have enough. Water changes, testing and the stability will do the rest.
