Is there an established filter on the tank? you said you recently added a canister filter. Just wondering your tanks not going through a mini cycle or something like that.

This is what I was going to ask. You added a canister but what did you have as your filter before? Did you leave that filter on or transfer your fitler media to the canister? If not then all the beneficial bacteria is gone and your tank is cycling all over again.

x2. What other filter is on the tank besides this one? Did you just install a new canister with new media and put it on the tank? If there's no established media in the filter, or if there's no other established filter in the tank, it means your tank isn't cycled and your fish are probably poisoning themselves with ammonia and/or nitrite.

Edit: Or what piscavore pisces said before I could hit the Post button!

lol there fine now NO water change just aeratoin, not saying a water change wouldnt had worked. So do i have to leave the areator or a powere head moving top of the water will do?

Yeah, had the same thing when I moved to canisters from HOB, was like "Ohhh noes wtf my fish!". I have sense then kept 1 HOB on there just for this reason and just use filter foss in it.

But will a powerhead work instead of a HOB? (powerhead aimed up moving the water like crazy, but no bubbles..)

Yes, that would be perfect.

Dont bother with the bubble wands. Just get that surface water agitated. I have a 110 stocked full of CAs. All I run is two Hagen Aqua Clear 500s and 70% water change weekly. Some crushed coral in the filters. No carbon and no aggression. All is well.
