So what I have is a 10g with 52watts of CFL over it.

I'm looking for a plant that I can grow in about 2" of water 2" of peagravel. So preferably something that willl thrive off a root tab or ammonia in the water.

It houses 3 Fire Bellied toads.

Any suggestions?

Also I'm looking for some duckweed. I think the frogs would like the cover in the water. Where can I get some?

swords.. really almost any aquarium plant i would assume. since most have emmersed, terristial forms they take on. the only advise i would give you is by them in there terristial forms, because immersed form leaves die above water, so a weakened plant may not survive.

not sure on the small plant ideas but duckweed I have gotten everywhere from lfs, local pond supply, and even the outdoor section at home depot.

bamboo...you cannot kill it...lol i have some in my betta bowl
well im sure you can kill it...its just very hardy

wouldnt bambo get too tall for my enclosure? I have to have the top or they'll get out.

Really I'd like something like babys tears or maybe hairgrass?

Would simple java ferns work?

I'm sure i have enough light since it won't even be diffused through the water.
hmm.. im not sure about its terristial form, ive heard it does have one in the wild. becareful tho you have very high lighting for a ten gallon, it may burn the leaves at first(with light not heat). also java fern shouldnt be planted in gravel if its roots are under water they should be strapped to a rock so the roots are in the water column.

like i said you have very high lighting even if it was diffused through water, so dont be afraid to try higher light plants.

my advise would be go to petco or petsmart and choose the plants they sell in the little plastic containers, since im pretty sure those are terrestial forms. so the ones that are dry in containers not the ones they have in fish tanks.

you could always prune it, if you do get that.

stay away from tears, there not easy to plant under water and to get to spread, you dont need the added difficulty of frogs stomping on them. hair grass would probably work tho.

Well let me find on of my crappy pics.... I really want something to go on the part where the gravel is only about 1/2" to 1/4" below the surface. And if its hard to see in the pic thats the left side of the tank. Theres a ramp on the back wall that goes up to the land area.

I also wish they had somekind of moss that would grow on my back wall. I think when I get my powerhead to move the water and filter it the middle of next week i'll make it run down the back wall. Wonder if javamoss could be attached to it?
