emo oscars???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LOL this has been fun to read.

The emo fish thing has been solved ever sense the larger then them plecos have been removed they are happy and back to normal.
As far as the number in the tank no joke it is to many I do a 15% water change every 2 to 3 days. Fiance loves the biceps I am building LOL. And the oscars are trained to hide in a hollow rock tell I’m done and come right out happy as can be after.
We have stopped the feeders tell we can bread are own, or we setup a quarantine tank.

Now back to your regularly schedule program

I am thinking of switching the fish from silver sides to strips of haddock say ¼ inch by 3 inch. As it is commonly on sale around here in Maine and is a food source that can be cut larger as they get bigger. Also I hate the idea of hotdogs. And here in Maine shiners have two seasons you can not buy them due to skin worms.
The problem as many of you well know is not getting to the 24” mark. Its planing what to do when you get past it. My fiance and I live in Maine most pet stores even petco only carry 55 gallon tanks and filter units for 80 gallon if your lucky. What we are out to do is unheard of here that’s why we are on this forum and out to learn as much as we can.
So lets cut the redneck computer geek and the midget hippie a break and lets raise some cool fish.

so, currently i have (all non agressive) a red oscar (3"), tiger oscar (4.5"), albino oscar(1.5") and a RTC (4.5") in a 30gal who were all very happy and energetic. i had to move a pleco (5.5") from my 55gal (he was chewing on my TSN) to the 30gal. now my oscars are quiet, laying sideways, and hiding everytime we walk up to the tank. are they upset (and can they be?) about the new friend? the pleco is off in his own world and i havnt seen him near the oscars.

I hANE NOT gotten to toher peoples' replies, I hardly do, I just reply to the thread owner and read mine..........An Oscar needs at least 75g-100g per fish to thrive, on other words live a healthy life...........Two oScars will be fine in a 100g tank........Oscars sometimes lean on the gravel, almost like a fat pitbull too full to walk..........It is ok, nothing wrong.........Sometimes they will gor a days without eating, also fine, just pissed off about something..........Keep up with the weekly 50% water changes..........

On a side note, for anyone who owns a RTC, be ready to build a pond........I own a RTC............
