How so?

You have to wash the sponge and rinse the biomedia in the AC110. With the Emp you only replace the cartridge. Though to keep the filters at top performance the Emp400 requires a more frequent total cleaning.

man, on my AC70's i have to get down on scubbing the whole dam thing and on the intake tube there is a certain spot that i cant get to and clean.

hey how does that ac110 work on your 55g??? i have a 55g with a male green terror and im thinking of upgrading to a ac110..

Both are decent filters. This subject has been beaten to death on more than one forum site.

Some swear by AC's while others the Emp.

I have kept AC's for longer than I can remeber, and some of those are still running!

I never tried the Emp's but why change a good thing and something that I know and trust to work? I have had some exprience with the Pengiun 330.

So my vote goes to the AC. The larger intake and the larger motor makes the AC110/500 out shine the others in the line. The 300/70 has the same size intake but has the smaller motor, or atleast it used to be that way I havent owned on in 6 years or so.

I will be the first to say.

No to the AC 110.

I've never had a single problem with my Bio Wheel filters but the AC 110 was tossed in the garbage. Worst HOB I have ever used.

Pickup tube was cracked out of the box, had to silicone it.
Constantly picked up sand even with pre filter and foam on the pick up tube, thus it never stopped making these horrible noises.

It now lives in the city dump where it belongs.

Most people would have the sense to return the product for one that was not broke:screwy:

Of course you won't have this problem with the Emp400, it does not have a very strong pump. This just goes to show which filter is more powerful.:grinno:
