Agreed, those foam block last for ever, I finally had to replace one after 10 years because it was deteriorating. What I put in mine is foam block on the bottom, some filter floss and then some biomax... Never had any problems. I just wanted to warn everyone that I have used this product with very poor results! I lost a Silver Dollar and SAE to acute poisoning as a result. I'm pretty sure it would have wiped out my entire tank if I hadn't caught it right away. I wouldn't recommend that anyone use this product in an aquarium.
