good idea about filling the container.I personaly never buy the new blue filter pads I simply every 2 weeks rinse them in de-chlorinated water and put them back, tons of brown waste comes off.I have been told recently though and not sure this is true, but the manufacturers are on to us and now the new filter pads start to fall apart after a month.I have some that are tough as nails after 4 years.

I have noticed this with the emperor filters I have, they are falling apart after 2 rinses. Been doin that for years with them and just now are starting to fall apart. I use 2 400's and 1 280 and I love them though. One of the best I've found as far as hob's go.

get a AC110 instead problem solved sponge blocks lasts forever.
Agreed, those foam block last for ever, I finally had to replace one after 10 years because it was deteriorating. What I put in mine is foam block on the bottom, some filter floss and then some biomax... Never had any problems. That and I never buy new media except for floss, but floss is super super cheap.

supercartridges with foam from walmart works great, just rinse out the foam when needed.

I just wanted to warn everyone that I have used this product with very poor results! I lost a Silver Dollar and SAE to acute poisoning as a result. I'm pretty sure it would have wiped out my entire tank if I hadn't caught it right away. I wouldn't recommend that anyone use this product in an aquarium.

been using these forever and have never lost a fish, ive even breed fish in tanks with em.

same here

i have been usng that exact same stuff for 5 years on multiple tanks with no problems.

Strange..... even tested it on a feeder to verify it was the source. Maybe it has to do with the quantity? How much did you use and what size tank?
