Emperor 400 vs aquaclear110

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i love both .. AC 110 are quieter. I still use both :) I put pot scrubbers in my emperors :)

Some of these responses are silly....AC110 is far superior...you could run one full of biomedia and one full of sponges. There is no way that two spinning wheels have more bacteria growing on them then a media box full of biomedia where the water flows directly through it.
Switch that to both of them having mech and you surpassed that junk emp!!

ac110, 100 more gph a piece is a hard advantage to overcome.

i do think 2 of either is a little overkill, but wth am i talking about its MFK!

on my 55 i currently have a magnum 250 for mostly mechanical filtration, and a filter thats 100gph full of pot scrubbers, and that alone is enough filtration to keep my water clear and my ammonia and nitrites at 0. i'm going to add a corner sponge filter to the 55 aswell just for good measure on my water quality.

Ever realize the actual non-porossity of pot scrubbers...i mean opposed to ceramic the pot scrubber fibers are smooth, not porous,so why do you guys use them.I mean Nirobacter isn't a half an inch big!!!!

They're both good filters but I prefer my Emperor 400.:) AC looks like it was made cheap and it works for multi-purpose. The plastic housing is very brittle. So brittle that I thought I broke it just trying to remove the the parts for maintainance. I like Emperor just because it looks better and it's one piece design so the chance of filter leaking is unlikely.

i used both before... good filters only thing is one is wider than the other. too much money for media, only complaint i have.:irked:

check the chart out on this page http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/filtration/l/aa071603.htm

lava rock only has a 16 compared the the pot scrubber's 370
