Emperor 400 vs aquaclear110

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use both right now and It all comes down to preference. They will both do the same thing but the emperor has a biowheel. Another thing is none of the emperor's I have used break like the ac110 do. AC's become brittle after a while and will break on you.

AC110 IMO is a better all around filter. I had an emeperor 400. I couldn't be happier with the switch. Easier to maintain and cheaper...in my experience.

So much for decisiveness..

If you look for this same debate on other forums it will be similar, if you tally the responses that actually said which one you will always have a few more for AC. But its still marginal so it boils down to preference.

I personally am strongly for AC110s. Although the emps and penguins have bio-wheels, the ac's can house far more media. If you purchase a cell pore block for one section on an ac, the bio capacity is nearly that of a eheim 2217. AC's are far more versatile, but I prefer them for mech filtration, over bio anyway. They are great mech filters. Either way, a HOB cannot compare to a W/D, sump, or canister for bio filtration.

well the emp is on sale for 37 bucks and the ac is around 58 so im gonna get the emps an put better media in it thanks for everyones help.
