emty 40g breeder!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They use to be common around 99-02, but now I can't seem to find them available for the life of me....

how about an ackie or 2? If I can find someone with some nice yellow ackies I definitely wouldn't mind getting a small colony going again. The female that I had was housed in a 50 gallon Lizard Lounge (Oceanic System's old design pre-All-Glass buy-out), which I think was about same surface area of a 40 gallon breeder. I'll get measurements when I go home from work later today. These days a 2-3 inch common snapper lives in the tank.

I wouldnt house beardies together after juvie period, dominance will occur and one will end up in real bad shape,

Never had that problem with beardies, even with the females establishing their heirarchy. I cared for a 1.3 colony that lived in a 4 ft tall x 2 ft wide x 8 ft long cage at a herp store, as well as my personal pair that lived in a 40 breeder (I wanted to go larger on tank, but was jobless and was raising 40-50 babies in a 90 gallon I had - sold all the babies and adults all at once).

The pair-of-beardies-in-a-40-breeder horse has already been beaten once in the threat. Don't think we need to beat it again.

its easy to heat a 40 breeder tank. i have two now heated with infra read bulbs. tank heat will depend on size bulb and room temps. malis like high heat and low humidity which would make a screen top glass tank perfect. i had a black throat monitor yrs ago started off in a 40 breeder and had a 120-126f basking spot with warm side of tank in the low 90s and cool side was in the 25-82 range during the day. so heating one will be no prob.

heating is no prob for me. my room temp is 76 all the time. also im capable of getting almost any lizard so the possibilityies are endless. i was thinking of a chuckawalla. are uromastics active???

what about a viper boa??

or 2 female and one male leopard gecko??????

i just read up a little on uromastics. there pretty cool. how much do they run. i like the ornates.

uros vary from speicies to speicies. malis being the cheapest. ornates, morrocans being the most expensive..

one of the big things to remember with uros is not to go cheap. most of them are imported and come in with heavy parasites and most do not eat.. if your going to get one i would go through a quality breeder. i use Deer Fern Farms, Doug is a great guy. always sells top notch uros..

ive had many uros, 4 malis, 3 saharans, and an ornate. i love them.. they have great personalities, very calm. easy to feed and they dont get huge.. the color morphs within each speicies is unreal.. if you have anymore questions about them i would love to help.. ive been thinking about getting another pair to keep as display animals..
