No, that is not normal at all. They should basically never be at the top. What is your temp, possibly it is too warm and there's not enough oxygen in the water.
Tanks at 82 degrees and got two ac110's and a powerhead that churn the water pretty good so, should have good oxygen in it. Btw tanks a 100g other fish in there are 3 small comps, 2 small nigripinnis and about 6 plecos ranging from 3-4" and a single nzo basin cat 4-5". If that helps. But thanks the reply
It's weird because they swim like that but yet they feed and they build their little mounds in the sand. I'll try to get the water down but, where I live the temp in already kind of high. If anything and worse comes to worse gotta get a small chiller or something...
