They look a whole lot better in person. My picture taking skills in a crowd suck. Even my girl was looking at people crazy. Little kids kept jumping in front of the camera. She wanted to slap a few of them.
I saw them the other day too. Your tem is really starting to put some size on. I'm excited to see how big he is by next summer. Can't wait to see the pinima on display. Every time I go to the zoo that's my first stop. Gotta see the cichla!!

I had seen the Pinima about three months back when I got the Dovii he was looking VERY BIG but in a n enclosed concrete clousre I couldn't see him well. Hey did you notice they took the Big Dovii Male out of the display tank? Wonder what that was about? I hope it didn't mean anything bad happened. I did see a lot of the Dovii female's and different males in the tank just not the BIG MAN!
It was a trip for me because I haven't gone in through the front gates in almost 11yrs. So this was my first time going in with out Rick. I was honestly proud to say there the first thing you see when you walk in the door. And true to Cichla form they sit right in front of the tank just looking at everyone. Even though we all know they can use some of that lightning and thunder and hop right over the little barrier I had to get some top pic's of the Temensis.
Yeah your boy was right up front. I love the fact that their the first thing you see when you go in. They really liven up that tank. I can't wait to see the tem change color phase. When I was there last week the big dovii was still in that other tank. He was hiding in that big hollow log that's on the floor towards the back. The only time I saw him was when something would get close to the opening and he would lunge out to chase them off. I hope that he's ok. I was thinking that he must be guarding a spawn when I was there. I wish we could get a good clean pic of that guy. He would totally compare to those pics that you see posted on the fishing sites.
Ok I didn't see the Cave in the back. To many little kid's. hahah I was wondering how the hell would you get a Cichlid that big out of that tank. THAT DOVII is huge for sure. Man i had problems getting my Arrow out of the 240g and he was 25''. I just picked him up at the store but when I tooK him out my tank I used a pond net. I use this for all the big boy's.
