energy costs

well actually my parents just gave in to the Idea before i saw this but this will save me the 300 or so dollars I was going to give them thanks. so big fish tank it is now I just need the money to buy it... I think ill just buy the tank at an lfs for 130 dollars the furniture costs 300 and ill built a sump so ill buy a pond filter some pbc and some pot scurbbers im going to try and rig it so its under the gravel. and im going to need to buy some new fish im thinking of a less agressive aquarium as I am getting bored that I have to keep my jd alone and he scares his tank mates. ill hace my two raphy cats one stripped and the other spotted (Raphy and Raphito) ill buy a 4 inch ornate i saw at the petstore or perhaps the del bichir. some cories some other stuff which I havent thought of alot of plants im going to peru this summer so ill ship a box of plants to myself my cousin has aquariums the plants are so much cheaper there, and ill be set. ill post pics when im done it will take probably all summer tho thanks

i hate you both cause I pay almost 16 cents a kilowatt . but actually my parents do one of the perks of being a 14 year old fish keeper

Tell them this, if they won't let you get a decent size tank. Tell them you will just bring home a snake. Get a nice Burmese python that will get 20 feet. And then they can complain about an electric bill for a fish tank. Snakes cost about 3x more than fish to keep... The difference in power from a 75 to a 55 gal is pennies.

problem is, for some folks, its not the costs that is the issue. when I lived at home for example, my parents supported my hobby but wouldn't let a tank bigger than 90g in their house. I had to wait until I moved out and bought my own house to get my 6 foot 150g..
