If you like toothless, just watch the Scottish Premier League (SPL). Lots of dentist visits there ...

We (the US) are closing the gap, slowly but surely. Compare the England team's lineup against ours, and 2-0 at Wembley isn't necessarily an awful result. Our main problem was the inability of our midfield to cleanly receive passes and release players quickly. Ricardo Clark played a horrible game, and Michael Bradley was nowhere to be found for much of it. Certainly much of that is a credit to Owen Hargreaves, who was man of the match IMO. Methinks Sir Alex doesn't entirely play to Hargreaves' many strengths. Eddie Johnson flashed bits of why he held so much promise at one time, but his lateral dribbles won't cut it against Prem opposition/talents. The only real bright spots for the US were Clint Dempsey, who was woefully miscast on the right wing but shows again and again that he fears no defender, and Demarcus Beasley (who, interestingly, might have solved Sven-Goran Eriksson's LW problems at Man City had he stayed), although Beasley's delivery from set pieces was disappointing. Neither Johnson nor Wolff showed much ingenuity in pressing the English defense. But then, John Terry & Rio Ferdinand are 2 of the top 5 centrebacks in the world!

Technically England are better than us. Their awareness of off-ball movement is far superior, and their commitment to press advantages was the deciding difference. I think they will be a challenger for WC2010 champions under Capello, and play to their strengths - as long as their forwards stay healthy and Joe Hart is the answer. It is obvious that Gerrard MUST stay healthy for them to get anywhere, though.

I fear the result against Spain will be even worse, whereas against Argentina we can get a draw.

So, will Everton actually advance in Europe this year? ;) Don't take too long, once Frank gets Big Phil we Man City acolytes will be taking your place ... :D

I do agree with it not being a bad result for you(USA) i want to see if johnson or lescott can get a couple of games, lescott is defiently good enough, they just play him in the wrong position and then take him off because hes doing poor:irked:

Yay England!!! Sorry, I know I live in the US but I always pull of England.

The american soccer team is a joke. I don't think americans care much for the sport anyhow, so pointless trying to bring down the yanks.

England won! :popcorn::headbang2

They are getting better.....I know it doesn't mean they are good yet, but they are making some strides I think.

Typical Evertonian ... always a chip on their shoulder 'cos they are 2nd best in their city. :D

Johnson? You mean Andy? He's not world-class, I'm afraid. Of course, he plays a position of need for England, so he'll get some call-ups. I agree about poor Joleon ... he's a dynamite centreback who has pace, skill, confidence, and is a potent attacker. Unfortunately he's stuck behind Terry, Ferdinand, possibly Micah and others for that spot. At least Carragher is out of his way. How long did SGE abuse Carragher for being versatile? Just as Capello will with Gareth Barry ...

Yay, ha ha we beat the USA...we are ace we are ace!!! What a perfect springboard for a great performance in Euro 2008!!!!!! Roll on the SUmmer..... Oh, wait a minute...we didnt even qualify did we...hmmm, we're so crap, we're so crap! God, I cant wait till we learn to play ONE of the games we invented well!

:ROFL:Joke, did you see the table on if everton and all other teams had all the decisions made correctly like penaltys not given when they were or goals disqualified when they were fine that Everton would of finished 4th:screwy:just shows how poor refs have been for us, also we did loose it in the last couple of games. Not and excuse but i thought it was interesting......

How much of a joke was everton not getting a pen for the whole season bar on the last game, i bet the ref was told to give a pen easily......

Man city fans, always in the shadows of Manu,which isnt even in manchester:screwy::ROFL::ROFL:Embarrassing or what;) How was 9th place:grinno:
