Enough filtration for 220g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks again for the replies. Well maybe I will only put two smaller sharks instead of multiple. As for the rocks helping with filtration does the rocks in the tank help with filtration or only rock in the sump? How does live rock help with water quality in the tank just sitting there? I will buy a good skimmer.

Many here know much much more about this then I. I am a discus importer/small breeder. www.kingdomcomediscus.com. I have always loved salt and have had salt tanks on and off since the early eightys.

I would listen to people like otherone who have posted here.

Live Rock is mother natures perfect bio filter loaded with many micro organisms which eat pollutants. In my opinion living filtration is the only way to go. I wish you the best of luck with your tank. Please keep us posted.

Thanks,

Well thank you kraig. That is good to know about the live rock and how it natural cleans the water. By having live rock in the main tank or sump it will be a natural filter regardless? I think i will fill the sump with LR as many pounds as it will fit and I will get a light with macro algae going in the refug. Should i get any snails fish or shrimp for the sump or refug.? Does that help with the filtration? What is gfo?

GFO is granulated ferric oxide. It takes phosphates and other wastes out of the water
