besides needing more filtration. You definatly need to do water changes more often. Atleast once a week if not 2 times a week.
Yes, when they're clean. Some of the manufacturers rate their filters running EMPTY not with media OR dirty media. 800gph is very optimistic for 2 Emperor 400s.upyun;527400;527400 said:2 Emperor 400s = 800gph
wouldn't that mean his 75gal would be cycling 10.66667 times an hour?![]()
I've been told recently that I'm too negative in my responses to questions. I've been trying to decide whether to not give a response or to be more positive when I do. I'm sorry I wouldn't have a magnun in my house unless it's a 44. Over the last 10 years I've probably sold 50 (about $15+ each)of the magnets and almost 20 (about $5-7 each) of the impellers, they don't sell just the shaft which wear and start to make noise as they spin until they stop spinning. The rubber nipples don't last the magnets explode...large_cichlids;527345; said:So if i got a magnum 350 pro would that be enough and would i be constantly buying parts for it.
I responded already to upyun's post already. Sorry I should have explained it better initially. BTW, in the original post the filter was a penguin 350. That doesn't equal an Emperor 400. I't's way short.TenaciousTankBuster;527469;527469 said:I'm a lil confused. 2-Emporer 400s = 800 gallons per hour. Thus, this would turn over an 80 gallon tank 10x. Since we are talking about a 75 it would seem that that 2 Emporer 400's are more then efficient. Did I miss something? Or did I do the math wrong here?![]()
Anyhow because I'm not very fond of canister filters and because my tank will strictly only be for a single "Wet Pet", I only plan on using 2 Emporer 400's for my upcoming 90 gallon tank. It's close enough imo. Only if I get a 125 will I even consider using a canister. But hey, that's just me.

There should never be any food waste in your tank except for what is chewed up and spit out by messy eaters and you should do your best to clean this up also. This is why it states on the label of every fish food I have ever seen "Only feed as much as your fish will eat in a few minutes". This in fact can and should be done with every type of fish food.
