So, basically simply put the pad between the foot of the pump and the platform of the canister, right? Is one pad enough, or did you double up? How did you handle the screws? Through the gel pad, or squeezed it around the screws? How tightly did you tighten them?

I put the gel between the base of the pump and the pump base, 2 gels side by side, pump ontop, I just put screws through the gel and did them up to about 90%of the full depth of the screw so slightly looser.

Then I used a craft knife to trim and thing that was sticking out

I'm years late to this party, however HarleyK, where is your thread? I used one gel pad and my 2262 is still humming loudly. Will adding a second gel pad make a difference?

You’re actually very timely, because I sold my 220 gal, and I set up one of the two 2262 on my 75 gal ... and I did exactly what you mentioned: I installed both gel pads on one filter. It still hums, and because of lack of cabinet space the canister was free standing next to the tank. I ended up wrapping it in sound-proofing foam and hiding it all in a hamper.
