Hey there guys got a bit of a problem and hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.

I have a flowerhorn he's about 5 inch, he came with a small case of lymphocystis on his tale but that disappeared fairly quick, only to have broke out up his body in the last week or so.

I do a 25% water change every 2 days in which I hover the Sand, I also spot clean every day to remove uneaten food and waste.

I was thinking of adding an Epsom salt treatment in as well so,

A. Will it be effective at removing/reducing the lymphocystis.

B. How much should I add per gallon.

C. Would this particular one be OK to use, Westlab Pure Mineral Bathing Epsom Salt. It dose say pure Epsom salt.

I've never treated with this befor so am a little nervous so any and all advice is appreciated.

Thank you in advance... Ben

Epsom salt won’t help. It’s a viral cause. I’d suggest cont to keep the water clean and make sure it’s eating.

Agree, there are "no" medications available treat viruses in fis, it is as common and incurable as the cold in humans.
Its all about proper conditions, meaningclean water, correct temp, and a stress free environment.

Thank you for your reply I had seen other people suggesting it for this same thing hence why I asked, my water is spot on temp is 82 and he's a very aggressive eater.

Will this be something I'm battling all his life or will it eventually go.

Thank you for your reply. All these are spot on so I'm not sure why it has flared up this last week,

Will this eventually go do you know or will I be constantly battling it.

It’s like the flu. Come and go.

Again thank you for your reply, it's definitely not white spot I've had plenty of experience with that unfortunately.

Ive had him 8 weeks now it came on him on his tale but soon disappeared but seems to have flared up this last week.

Hers some pics any ways so you can see. Although you can only see the worst bit as its very hard to get him to sit still ?

I concur with the others, my flowerhorn experienced this too. This is get when you transfer your fish to another aquarium. Since their is a possibility that he may get injured and that is the moment will the virus attack. Btw gorgeous fish.

All salt does is promote a healthy slime coat.
I've only had to deal with Lymphocystis a few times & only with African Cichlids. My fish had very severe cases of Lympho. Things never improved & I eventually euthanized.
Your FH looks to have a low level case. Hopefully providing optimal conditions will enable its immune system to overcome the virus.
IMO, Lymphocystis is much like a cold sore / herpes virus. Once infected, the virus plagues the host its entire life.

That's one of the reasons I was thinking to add salt, the lumps you can see In the picture is the worst of it he has other small marks on both sides but small enough the camera can't pick them up properly due to his colour.

Fingers crossed they don't get any worse.....

Thank you for your input?
