Epsom salt and lymphocystis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I concur with the others, my flowerhorn experienced this too. This is get when you transfer your fish to another aquarium. Since their is a possibility that he may get injured and that is the moment will the virus attack. Btw gorgeous fish.
Yeah he came with it unfortunately.

Luckily there's nothing in my tank that he can harm himself on its all concealed out of the way as I knew prior to getting him that flowerhorns can be prone to injury so I flowerhorn proofed it so to speak ?

Thank you for your reply....

Epsom salt won’t help. It’s a viral cause. I’d suggest cont to keep the water clean and make sure it’s eating.
Just a quick question would adding Epsom salts be worth while to stop any chances of a fungal or bacterial secondary infection setting in, I've read it can with lymphocystis, or would it be more harm than good?....

Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) is a diuretic. Sodium Chloride (table salt) is used for external bacterial infections

I have only encountered this on fancy goldfish. I have a feeling higher water temperature for a small period is the solution.
