Yeah they do turn up in the most unusual/unexpected places.
I was sure he got in a wall and got stuck, and we would smell him before we found him, but thankfully, I was wrong this time.
I kept watching the cat for any "new found toys" too.
The other thing is, I put a "bait" mouse out Mon. last week. Fed it, watered it, etc.
Thurs. morning last week, it's gone. I figure the snake got it but the hole was big enough for him to get back out of after eating.
He doesn't look or act as if he's eaten, so I guess the cat gets a new toy after all
if he finds it.
Hell, maybe it's taken up residence under the food bowl now that the snake is gone.
Lazy A** cat. Nothin' but a fat money pit that don't earn his keep.
