why do you say that??? do you know the guys who tried it???? you're all a bunch of skeptics if you ask me........i'm not sayin it's gods honest truth but i mean if they can breed plecos and discus which were almost impossible to breed back in the day who says it hasn't been done.......i don't see why you think it's rubbish??? Mr. Loacho Cinco.....the rest of the info on the page is pretty acurate. http://www.fishlore.com/Articles/BreedingLoaches.htm

The person who claimed to have done it went through a laborious process to achieve the goal, at least according to the story. You can infer from that information that he knew what he was doing. If he knew what he was doing, he knew that Clown Loaches have never been bred in aquaria. Apparently, he took pictures, but they were "lost". He apparently also gave fry to many people, but not one person has come forth to say they received fry from this person. If you bred a fish that has never been bred in captivity, you would take better care of those pictures. That story is a fraud.

I've got an investor, wurm. Let's go get some land in florida. May take some convincing to get the money from him though haha.

My avatar isn't enough to get investment capital? Hmm...This may be harder than I thought...

i think they require low ph to even want to breed like low 6's........found this
If memory serves me right, Colin Dunlop almost successfully bred his loaches naturally, had he not removed the adults prematurely and the pH was in the range of 4 at that time but Scotland does have very soft water hence easier to lower that pH.

It gets in to the 50's in the key's for weeks at a time when a strong cold front pushes through.

That may be enough to push the water temps lower than what would be necessary for an outdoor pond.

I think a bigger problem would be doing it in a legal fashion. To have any kind of business you would need permits and such that say you will be responsible for the environmental impact if they became feral. You would have to ensure that they did not get lose and if they did it might ruin you. I would be happy, but the fish and wildlife department wouldn't be. Cool idea, and it would be awesome IMO, but I dont think it can be done practically.

Looks like a few giant metal pole barns with ponds....

S. Florida is too cold to maintain (let alone breed) clown loaches in outdoor vats, ponds, etc. I know a commercial breeder in S. Florida that tried in the past, and failed. This January saw temps in the mid-low 20's in S. Florida, with some outdoor ponds dropping to below 50F. There was a major die-off in many commercial fish farms during that cold snap. You can cover the ponds etc, but that's not always a viable solution, and it doesn't always help enough with temp sensitive species.
