When I was a boy, I used to catch snakes in the yard and try to tame them. My mom however wasn't real keen on my "hobby". Anyway, my snake-catching days stopped when I was bitten by a black snake. Not venomous but it drew blood none the less. Has anyone else been bitten by a pet snake or any snake for that matter?

yeah ive been bitten by pythons, colubrids, lizards ferets, you name it ive been bitten..the biggest was a 5 foot ball python..

i stay away from snakes, i showed this one who was boss, i released it 3 days after i caught it.

By the way, this was in NW Florida just east of Pensacola. Oddly enough, there was a land tortoise that was native to that region that we called a gopher.

Ditto on what Dovii said; I've been bitten pretty much by every pet you can think of (except for like, monkeys, and tigers, etc). Working in petstores for 8 yrs will give you that kind of experience.

The absolute worst bite I received from a reptile was a 4' albino Burmese python. This snake hated every living thing, and it clamped its jaws around my middle & ring finger and then proceeded to coil around my whole hand. It hurt like hell.

Other memorable bites were from a 9' burm (this one didn't even hurt so much as startle me, but it left a few teeth behind), a prehensile-tailed skink, and a fire skink (probably the most painful lizard bite; it clamped down and then death-rolled like a croc).

So, do you ever get used to the bites? I work with high voltage and have been shocked many many times. I can't say that I enjoy it but it is getting less of a big deal than at first.

I've been tagged by all kinds of snakes. No venomous snakes but boas, pthons, and colubrids. The most painful was from a amazon tree boa. That thing was bit me on the chest stuck for about a half hour. My 10-11' redtail got me once(it was about 8' at the time), but those teeth were nothing compared to the tree boa. It still made me bleed a lot(as it coiled up my arm and made it turn purple), but no real damage done.

no one likes my snake pics? this thing was viscous!

Not really...I kinda feel sorry for the snake. Must hurt having that hook in its mouth.
