Ever feel like people over complicate this hobby? :nilly: If so how and what specifically?:nilly:

Sometimes I feel like people over complicate starting up a tank via fishless cycles etc. :nilly: Ive started many tanks without a million tests or chemicals! :nilly:

Filtration is also something I think sometimes gets overly complicated by people, after all is said and done some of the best fish keepers I know just use a simple sponge filter! lol:nilly:

ummmmm hope I dont get flamed now :nilly: lol

:FIREdevil

I agree, filtration is way over complicated by a LOT of people. I have a 110 on sponge filters and it works great!

over complicate? if fish keeping was as easy as keeping a dog, i doubt it would be as fun. and there's no way to OVER complicate fish keeping as its complicated enough as it is.

i hate when people think its a chip off the old block to keep fish. and they actually bag me for having to much filtration or to much of this or to much of that.

My main gripe is people who turn things into more of a "pissing match" or whatever.

But I hear you on overcomplication. I never cycle the old fashioned way.. not alot of water checks going on in my tanks either..

Over complication is all of the purigen and purigen like BS out there. Biological filtration is all that you need, mechanical following shortly after it. Over filtration and over complication are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Ever feel like people over complicate this hobby? Hell yes but in all fairness the ones I tend to see doing this the most are very new to the hobby.

If so how and what specifically?Water chemistry raise this lower that, increase this decrease that. And if you question why they want to do this its well the book says this or that.Leave the water alone most do more harm than good playing chemist.

Agree... I don't bag any for doing all this but doing purigen/vita-chem and whatever else suppliments starts getting crazy at some point.
